LITTLE PROJECTS THAT HAVE HUGE RESULTS

*Back-to-School Drive  ~ July-August (since 2021):  With the help of an amazing community, we are able to collect all the needed supplies for a child experiencing foster care to be successful on their very first day of school. Often attendance or regular attendance at school is a new endeavor for our foster youth. Starting a new school is scary but having a cool backpack, neat lunchbox and the tools just like everyone else can help.

*Kicks for Kids  ~  October – December (since 2019):  Each year we provide hundreds of pairs of brand new, name brand shoes to youth experiencing foster care in our area.  Many of our foster youth come into care without appropriately sized or seasoned footwear  or often none at all.  With the  support of an insanely generous community we have successfully run this program since 2019.

*Holly Jolly Christmas Party~ December (since 2022):  We host a Holly Jolly Christmas Party for our foster youth at two locations… Richland and Walla Walla, Wa. Youth experiencing foster care can come interact and socialize, play games, complete activities, eat, pick out gifts and grab their shoes from the Kicks for Kids drive. By providing a Christmas party specific for our foster youth and their caregiving families, we are providing them a safe and supportive environment to just be themselves and let loose.

*Cake Coalition ~ monthly (since 2021):  Mo’s Place Cake Coalition teamed up with bakeries in Walla Walla and the Tri-Cities to provide FREE birthday cakes to kiddos in foster care. Families submit a request for a child’s birthday.  Every child deserves to be celebrated…one sprinkle at a time! HUGE thank you to TSP Bakeshop and Wheatland Bakery for making this happen!

*Firm Foundations Caregiver Conference~ annually (since 2023):  All licensed caregivers are required a specific amount of continuing education hours each licensing period. But as caregivers of multiple youth it can be very difficult to find childcare while you work to obtain continuing education hours. Mo’s Place now hosts a training conference for all caregivers either needing training hours or wanting to just learn in  order to better care for those in their home. This conference provides a nice amount of credit hours, while allowing the freedom to network, support  and interact with those going through the same journey . We provide meals, snacks and most importantly…childcare.
